So... a couple of months ago, I had contacted The Shine Project and inquired about becoming a Shine Partner. I was so excited to hear back from them, but at a loss on what to make in order to properly represent them.
One evening last month, I had an interesting encounter with the sky. Out in Kernersville, North Carolina, I was having a not-so-great time. The lady I was caring for was very restless and I had not been able to sleep for over 24 hours. It was too much to handle. I walked out onto the porch and got a whiff of the fresh, country air. I was about to burst into tears when I heard footsteps approaching. I tilted my head back to hold back my tears and pretend that I had been out looking at the stars... then I actually saw the stars.
Hanging right above me were stars, twinkling at me, with glimmering lights shining so bright. I forgot that I was about to cry. I looked over to my left and realized that the person approaching me was Mimi, a wonderful old lady who came over weekly simply to spend time with me and see how I was. I did not know Mimi well, but she took time out of her crazy-busy schedule to make me feel like a person, a person that was remembered, and treasured, and cared for.
I knew right then what to create for the Shine Project, I mean, this is what the project is all about after all, right? Mimi made a difference in my life, and I had stars to remind me.
