She's Gone Berserk
Hey, you guys! I've decided to re-brand. Just like that. Nawww, I'm kidding. I have been thinking about this for a while. The crazy part is deciding to do it in a span of 10 days. You read that right. TEN DAYS.
Don't get me wrong, 50% of the behind-the-scenes work is done; the storefront and blog are the only things left getting glammed up these next 10 days. However, it is still pretty ridiculous how much work is going to happen.
Why The Re-Brand
The re-brand was clear to me. I had a specific vision when I first started my shop, and being new at all of it, I of course failed at so many things. Since my first shop opening 2 years ago, my designs have evolved. I took a long, hard look at my shop's site one day and decided it looked like a mess.
Among other things, I wanted to make sure that all my items were hand-made by me. Pendants, jump-rings, EVERYTHING!...I see so many designers that mimic each other out there and it's mostly because their materials come from one source. Besides, statistics show that my unique designs were my best-sellers.
With that said, I invested in new hand tools and equipment for my (too small) studio (ouch, the costs still hurt, you guys. But this is what it takes to make my 100% handmade products). I've made a decision to only buy US-made materials, and create my own findings, pendants, and designs.
When it comes down to it, the change is so worth it because I am proud of my products. They are mine-- my design, my efforts, my handiwork.
The Cons
Part of the change is getting all the boring and messy IRS/Business permit stuff in order. Because of this, I have put a hold on supporting the kiddos in Guimaras. :'(I still love them, of course, of course. The hopeful part is I'll be more effective and helpful when I get things in order. Hopefully. We'll see. I'll keep you updated!.
Still Up In the Air
I have no clue as to how to register my designs for protection from copycats. Can anyone shed some light on this? I will love you forever.
In The Meantime
In the meantime, I will make sure you are thoroughly informed about what is going on in the next 10 days. Also, you can shop my inventory clear-out on Etsy!!
