It all started with a blog post. I was inspired by reading "Design Sponge's" before and after segments and this little link in the corner of the page was calling out to me: Bizladies, it said. What in the world is that?

Background
I promised you behind-the-scenes updates of the re-brand but its a lot of boring 'ole details. So, I decided its about time I shared how I got into the Indie Biz world.
I've always been making jewelry. During high school in the Philippines, I would put together simple designs and try to pull it off at my uber-strict uniform-implementing Catholic High school. My childhood nanny had saved up a bunch of money; and after she stopped taking care of me, she started her own jewelry business. Yes, I'd say she was a part of my inspiration.
After I moved back to California from the Philippines, I created jewelry as a hobby. I gave them away as presents to friends and family on the holidays. However, for the other seasons of the year, costs became expensive. So, I started selling on E-bay. Still as a hobby. This was around 2007.
I got influenced
2009 rolls around and I stumble upon that "Design Sponge" series called Biz Ladies. A post by Kat Caprari caught my attention and for weeks I had contemplated making my hobby a full-time business. My point here? Kate had written a post that snowballed in my life from an idea... to an Etsy account...then to part-time selling with a brand. It was interesting and overwhelming and fun. I loved selling my creations.
As I was looking back at how I started up this shop, I realized that if not for BizLadies' encouragement and push, I would not have been inspired to create a brand, work hard at it, nor enjoy it. I never would have imagined jewelry creation and metalsmithing to be my full-time job. I'm glad that I did, and I am grateful for that push.
I need to influence
I also realized that Kate had something to say, and she did. The power of her voice, the power of her influence has stirred my life in a certain way. It caused me to think about what I have to say. What DO I have to say? How can I influence my dear readers? A thought to be considered.
Which influences in the blogging community caused you to make life-changing decisons? Who was it from? How did it move you?

Thank you for sharing today. I look forward to exploring your site more and seeing your jewelry.
Our words are important. Especially when we don't know who is reading them. Such a perfect example of words being used for good :-D!
Thank you, April! It means a lot to me. I don't always put value on my own voice, but seeing how others use the power of their influence makes me realize that I am capable of that as well. :D Thanks for stopping by!
I loved this story! I love when indie biz owners talk about how they got started!
